The Black Stars produced a strong defensive performance in the first half to keep the Red Dragons at bay with Lawrence Ati-Zigi making sensational saves.
Ghana looked much better in the second half. A good press on the Welsh backline resulted in Brandon Thomas-Asante dispossessing Ampadu for Ernest Nuamah to sprint from the halfway line towards the goal. Nuamah’s shot in the 18-yard deflected off a defender, hitting the post and falling to Yirenkyi to tap home.
Second half substitute Kumas broke Ghanaian hearts with a stoppage time equalizer, changing the mood of thousands of Wales supporters to that of a carnival.
The Black Stars would be encouraged by their performance ahead of their final friendly against Jamaica on June 10th as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
