The Black Stars of Ghana will be led by Assistant Coach, Desmond Ofei, in the upcoming international friendly against Mexico, scheduled for Friday in Puebla.
According to a statement from the Ghana Football Association, Carlos Queiroz will not be available for personal reasons.
Already involved in the team’s preparations since their arrival in Mexico, Ofei will officially take the reins for this high-profile encounter. Goalkeeping coach Daniel Gaspar and video analyst and set-piece specialist Gregory De Grauwe will support him.
In its statement, the Ghana Football Association emphasized that this reorganization is temporary and solely due to the head coach’s unavailability.
This friendly against Mexico is part of the Black Stars’ build-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ghana has been drawn into a tough group with Panama, England, and Croatia.
