Renowned lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr Benjamin Oduro Arhin Jnr has counselled for the use of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) is a legally binding contract that establishes a confidential relationship between parties to protect sensitive information from disclosure.
He shared that the NDAs serve as a cover or shield against the theft of intellectual properties such as business proposals, inventions, etc.
On the 2026 World Intellectual Property Day, Dr Oduro, popularly known as Bnoskka, revealed some creators often tend to be naive by pitching their proposals to potential investors who end up stealing their ideas.
“Go on the internet and search for ‘non-disclosure agreement’. Put yours and the person’s [investor] name in it before the meeting. If the person [investor] is ready to be bound by what it then shows him, if not, then do not.”
However, he stated that not all potential investors are interested in intellectual property theft, noting that it is sometimes good to seek opinions of others regarding their creations or inventions.
