Michelle Alozie: Champion in sports, genius in science

Date:

Michelle Alozie excels not only on the field of sports, but also in the field of sciences.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria put up a spirited performance to come from two goals down to defeat Morocco to win their tenth WAFCON title.

She scored the winning goal for Nigeria in the semifinal to shock defending champions South Africa to march on to the final to face host country, Morocco.

As a Yale graduate, Alozie impressively holds a degree in molecular biology and works in paediatric research off the field at the Texas Children’s Hospital.

She made her debut for the Super Falcons after rejecting an advance from the United States Women’s National Team in an international friendly against Jamaica on June 10, 2021.

Alozie began her club career with the Kazakhstani club BIIK Kazygurt in 2020 before joining Houston Dash in the same year after COVID-19 ended the Kazakhstan Women’s Football season.

Despite suffering a devastating injury setback in her footballing career at Yale, she carried on with the Tennessee Volunteers before her breakthrough in Houston.

She has been a mainstay for the Dash courtesy of her solid, consistent performances. Alozie captured the hearts of many with her beauty, style, and grace.

One of her memorable performances is against England in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, frustrating Lauren James to get sent off, but eventually losing on penalties to the Europeans in the round of 16.

Michelle Alozie is the perfect role model for every young aspiring female footballer over the world to show you can achieve your academic and sporting dreams at the same time.
