Parliament has ratified visa waiver agreements between Ghana and four nations—Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Colombia, and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The agreements cover diplomatic, service, and ordinary passport holders, allowing for visa-free travel and promoting closer international cooperation.
Presenting the report, Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije said the move aims to strengthen multilateral partnerships in sectors such as education, energy, trade, tourism, and agriculture through enhanced mobility.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa assured the House that while visa fees will be waived, there will be no immediate revenue loss. He highlighted that the economic benefits—including increased trade and tourism—far outweigh the fiscal impact.
The Minister added that the agreements are expected to deepen bilateral relations and contribute to long-term socio-economic growth for Ghana and its partner countries.
