Highlife musician Akwaboah has expressed his disappointment in musicians who fail to credit writers for the songs written for them.
According to him, the act deterred him from writing songs for fellows.
Speaking in a recent media interview, Akwaboah lamented that some musicians did not even acknowledge him when they received awards for songs he wrote for them.
Initially, I was writing songs for people, but sometimes I don’t get the credit. They get on stage and then say, I thank God, I thank my manager, I thank Charterhouse, and leave.”
There was this lady who once won an award and was thanking everyone on stage: her manager, her team, even the producer, but not me. Meanwhile, the song she won the award with was one I wrote,” he lamented.
Akwaboah said the incident became a wake-up call for him to sing his songs.
I was like, okay, that’s a lesson. So, from now on, I will sing mine,” he added.
