A swift response by the Ashanti Regional Police Command has resulted in the arrest of an armed robbery group.
A member of the group died after sustaining a gunshot wound from the joint effort of the police patrol teams from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) District and the Regional Operations.
Police Intelligence Department (PID) acted on intelligence to ensure the capture of the suspects on Friday, June 27, 2025.
The arrest of Kwadwo Kyei Baffour, 39; Joseph Oppong, alias Joe, 30; and Bernard Owusu Ansah, alias Hot Boy, 27; was followed by the apprehension of Kwadwo Konadu, 28; James Asare Boateng, 26; Emmanuel Asiedu, 27; Maxwell Gyimah, 30; and Daniel Dwumor.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, said the suspects had terrorised areas such as Abuakwa, Tanoso, Apatrapa, Denkyembuoso, and Appiadu with their robbery rampages.
Multiple laptops, tablets, mobile phones wristwatches, television sets, WiFi routers, three vehicles including Kia Morning and two Toyota Corollas cars with registration numbers GX 4388-19 and AS 4777-22, firearms, and ammunition were retrieved by the police.
Another suspect, Yahaya Nuhu, remains at large and is being actively pursued.
