Ghana international Mohammed Kudus made a touching return to his former school, Nima Basic 1, on Monday, June 30, where he donated books, Skechers football boots, and essential toiletries to current pupils as part of his ongoing community outreach project, The Kudus Dream.
The 24-year-old West Ham United midfielder, currently in Ghana on holiday, described the visit as a personal journey of gratitude and inspiration.
“I’m just here to shed a little light on my story and how I got to where I am today,” Kudus shared. “I started, like all of you, studying at the school here. But at the same time, I had a passion for football, just like most of you.”
He urged students to take their education seriously, stressing its importance even in the world of professional sports:
“As a footballer, you need to understand how to read your contracts, speak in interviews, talk to people, and engage. Your education is your foundation.”
The donation is part of a broader effort by Kudus to give back to his community, combining sports and education to uplift the next generation. Ahead of the school visit, he also organized a community football gala at Kawukudi Park on Sunday, June 29, featuring ten local teams in a vibrant display of grassroots talent.
The event drew local fans, youth groups, and community leaders, many of whom praised Kudus for staying grounded and returning to invest in his roots.
