Ghana’s Black Queens Drop in FIFA Ranking

Date:

Ghana’s Black Queens have dropped in the latest FIFA ranking, released on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The team now ranks 66th globally and 6th in Africa, reflecting a slight decline from the previous update in March.

Under the leadership of head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, the Black Queens held the 65th global position and were 5th in Africa earlier this year. However, following a series of four matches—of which they won one, lost two, and drew one—the team has slipped down both the global and continental rankings.

Their only victory came in a friendly against Senegal, while the other fixtures failed to deliver expected results. The dip in performance has contributed to their slide in the latest standings published by FIFA, the world’s football governing body.

Despite the ranking setback, the Black Queens are currently finalizing preparations for the delayed 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they aim to bounce back and reclaim their spot among Africa’s top women’s teams.
