Legon Cities have sacked head coach Yaw Acheampong as their fight to avoid relegation in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League intensifies.
Acheampong, who was appointed in January after Paa Kwasi Fabin’s resignation, failed to inspire a turnaround. His tenure was plagued by poor performances, culminating in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Basake Holy Stars — a result that sealed his fate.
The former Aduana Stars boss arrived with doubts over his suitability, having already been dismissed by Aduana earlier this season. Despite those concerns, Legon Cities had hoped his top-flight experience would bring stability.
With only five matches left to rescue their campaign, the Royals have appointed Tijani Abdul Rahim, a former Young Apostles head coach and assistant to Maxwell Konadu, to lead the charge for survival.
