JUST IN: Muslim Councils Praise Mahama for Eid Holidays

Date:

The Federation of Muslim Councils (FMC) has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for declaring March 31 and April 1, 2025, as public holidays in honor of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In a statement signed by Al-Hajj Muhammad Amir Kpakpo Addo, FMC’s General Secretary, the Council acknowledged Mahama’s fulfillment of his campaign promise to the Muslim community. They emphasized that the decision would help Muslims fully observe the festival, given the variability of the lunar calendar.

“We are grateful to President Mahama for recognizing the significance of Eid-ul-Fitr and granting an additional holiday to enable Muslims to celebrate this joyous occasion,” the statement read.

The FMC also highlighted that the extended holiday would promote unity, inclusivity, and religious tolerance in Ghana, allowing Muslims to celebrate with their families. They commended the President’s leadership in fostering national cohesion and encouraged Ghanaian Muslims to embrace the occasion by promoting peace, tolerance, and understanding.

“Eid Mubarak to all Muslims in Ghana and around the world!” the statement concluded.
