Hiplife artiste Bright Homenya known in showbiz circles as Article Wan has called on Ghanaians to concentrate on promoting artists based on their talent rather than their character.
According to him, that will build the industry in the right direction while making artists known widely for their unique talent.
Speaking in an interview on e-Quick, a flagship entertainment program on Max TV on Monday, Article Wan mentioned that focussing on musicians’ character was not the right thing to do.
“I think it’s about time we have to forget the artist’s character and draw another agenda of pushing the artist’s talent regardless,” he said.
Citing Shatta Wale as an example, Article Wan disagreed with critics seeing Shatta Wale’s character as destructive to his music.
He explained that the conscious act of Shatta Wale was part of his craft and if he was to change his character, he would lose his craft and unique brand.
“To me, branding is key and if Shatta Wale has to change, we will not love him anymore. Bear in mind that these things he does is what makes us love him and make the industry enjoyable,” Article Wan maintained.
He emphasized that Shatta Wale was conscious about his act and knew the exact strings to pull to always stay relevant in the industry.
