Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikwei Central, has been declared Member of Parliament-elect after defeating incumbent Patrick Yaw Boamah of the NPP in the 2024 general elections.
Baba Sadiq won with 15,383 votes against Boamah’s 14,949. Initially, early results favored Boamah, but NDC protests led the Electoral Commission (EC) to review the figures. Following consultations, the EC confirmed Sadiq’s victory.
The process faced delays due to anomalies in 30 pink sheets, which were sealed for further review. Tensions also arose on December 7 at Ansurudeen Islamic School polling station over space and agent numbers, leading to brief chaos and disruptions.
Despite the challenges, Baba Sadiq’s win marks a significant victory for the NDC in Okaikwei Central.
