Antoine Semenyo: The cherry on top of cherries

Date:

Everyone who had a hand in the rapid rise of Antoine Semenyo in his footballing journey must be brimming with immense pride seeing his extraordinary performances in the Premier League.

The Ghanaian international was a thorn in the side of Arsenal on Saturday night at the Vitality Stadium as his side, Bournemouth, emerged 2-0 winners over their visitors.

Though he missed a guilt-edged chance to have given Bournemouth the lead early on in the second-half, Semenyo was a constant threat against the Gunners as he mostly ran Ben White rugged in the first-half, then frustrated Ricardo Calafiori with his track-back runs, quelling attacks from the left towards the home team’s goal.

Antoine Semenyo was simply the main architect of Andoni Iraola’s South Coast team’s dominance over the ten-man North London giants.

Ryan Christie scored Bournemouth’s first of the game after he finished off a cleverly worked cornerkick in the 70th minute before Justin Kluivert sealed the victory from the penalty spot.

The Cherries’ determination saw them dent Arsenal’s title ambition and also becoming the first side to defeat them in the 2024 calendar year away from their home fortress.
