A musician turned “waakye” seller, Autentiq Damusicologist, has expressed disappointment in the former hip-hop duo, Nkasei, for not appreciating his contribution in the hit track “New Girl in Town.”
According to him, he wrote the lyrics and sang the bridge of the song, but the least was done by the group to acknowledge his efforts.
Autentiq Damusicologist, in an interview with Max Drive in Accra on Tuesday, said that he reached out to one of the duo Isaac Mensah, whose showbiz name was Naa-K, but he blacklisted his message.
He mentioned that Naa-K had earlier promised to sort him out, but he failed to do the needful, thus expressing his disappointment in the musicians for not remembering that his verse on their hit track catapulted them to fame.
Autentiq Damusicologist maintained that the duo were in the United Kingdom building their families with the works he contributed to its success.
“What hurts me the most about the whole issue was when they were asked who they did the song with. They referred to me as a Nigerian person. That time too, it was a big deal when you got featured by a Nigerian because Obour was doing it and pigin language was gradually taking over the industry.
They saw it as a marketing means to excel with the track by concealing my name and identity,” he added.
Autentiq Damusicologist also recalled how the group sacked him from stage when they were supposed to perform the said track together.
