Renowned gospel singer Ruth Adjei has cautioned the youth against marrying for ceremony and age sake and advised them to marry because they have found the right person.
According to her, marriage is beyond ceremonies and age; it is about getting an understandable partner and a destiny helper who will support your dreams through thick and thin without backing out.
She said this in response to the recent advice television personality Nana Ama McBrown gave to women and men to settle down at the age of 35 and 40, respectively, but could give birth before settling down.
Speaking in an interview on Max Drive in Accra on Thursday, Ruth Adjei said marriage was for mature beings and no one should be pressured into it.
She also advised parents to desist from pressuring their female wards who were getting old into marriages, noting that some marriages had collapsed and never worked.
Using herself as an example, Ruth Adjei said she was above 35 years before she got the right man to settle down with.
“Being the last girl with two boys in front of me, though my younger brothers married before I did, my parents did not pressure me. Yes, at times they said they were waiting for me to also settle down, but they never pressured me, and I never felt pressured,” she said.
Based on her career and who she is, Ruth Adjei said she prayed and waited for God’s appointed time before getting the right man to settle down with.
Ruth Adjei entered the gospel music scene some years back and began her career providing backing vocals for several gospel artists, including Joe Mettle, Hannah Marfo, Gifty Osei, Francis Adjei, Ceccy Twum, and Kofi Sarpong.
She is noted for songs including M’ehu Yesu, Matchless Father, Same Old God ft. Minister Igwe, My Hope, Me Gye Nyame De, Come Reign, Let’s Praise, Awurade Y3, You Reign, and Me Ndwom.
