Ghana Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu Joins Al Merriekh of Sudan

Date:

Ghanaian coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu has taken on a dual role, joining the technical team of Al Merriekh while maintaining his position as assistant coach of the Sudan national team.

The move comes as Al Merriekh prepares to participate in the Value Jet Cup in Nigeria, a tournament that also serves as a scouting ground for potential Sudanese national team players.

Osei-Fosu will be combining his club duties with his responsibilities for the Sudanese national team, aiming to identify and nurture talent for the country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.

The Value Jet Cup, hosted by Remo Stars, promises to be a competitive tournament with several Nigerian clubs and Al Merriekh vying for the title.

Osei-Fosu moved to Sudan alongside former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, who is the head coach of the Sudanese national team. Prior to this, Osei-Fosu had spells with Liberty Professionals, Medeama, and Techiman Eleven Wonders.

He holds a CAF License A badge and previously worked as a scout for Dramani Mas-Ud Didi during his stint as coach of Asante Kotoko.

Osei-Fosu’s new role at Al Merriekh and his ongoing responsibilities with the Sudan national team highlights his versatility and commitment to developing football talent in Sudan.
