Stonebwoy, Efya refuse my music feature – Kwaisey Pee

Date:

Highlife musician Kwaisey Pee has expressed worry over the refusal of some prominent artists in the country to collaborate with him.

According to him, many of the recent renowned musicians pay keen attention to social media numbers, and since he fell short, they sidelined him.

Speaking in a media interview, Kwaisey Pee mentioned Stonebwoy and Efya among the musicians who have turned down his collaboration proposal.

“When I was trying to get a collaboration from Efya, Stonebwoy, and the others, they didn’t want to do it because, one, they are checking your numbers on social media,” he said.

The “Me Hia Odo” hitmaker emphasized that social media followers should not be a yardstick for colleagues to turn down collaboration, as having a mass following did not prove an artistic prowess.

He observed that many of his fans were not active on social media, which he believed should not determine an artist’s worth or collaboration potential.

To support his point, Kwaisey Pee mentioned iconic musicians like Daddy Lumba, Kojo Antwi, and Amakye Dede, who, despite having massive popularity, could not boast of large social media followings.

“Visit their pages and see the number of followers they have,” he challenged, arguing that today’s stars, such as Kuami Eugene, have higher social media numbers since their age group is more internet-savvy.

Kwaisey Pee urged the audience to imagine turning down a music feature with legends like Daddy Lumba because of social media numbers, terming such a stance “sick.”

“Sometimes I get really upset, and then again, people will come to me and make some unnecessary or useless comments that the guy feels bitter. I don’t feel bitter. I’m telling you the truth,” he lamented.

Kwaisey Pee further stated that Ghanaians hated the truth and had to change it.

“If you speak the truth in Ghana, they say you are bitter. The country is sick. There are diverse sicknesses in the country and in the mind. They are sick in the mind. There are a lot of mental health issues in Ghana that we don’t take seriously. People are sick in the mind,” he added.
