Stonebwoy, King Promise win big at the 25th TGMA

Date:

After the jostling at the much anticipated night, the reggae-dancehall artiste Stonebwoy emerged the Artiste of the year at the just-ended Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024, held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

He beat stiff competition from King Promise, Black Sherif, Nacee, Kuami Eugene, and Sarkodie to win the ultimate award.

Stonebwoy, in addition, won five more awards, namely Songwriter of the Year, Best International Collaboration, Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album/EP of the Year, solidifying his place as a powerhouse in Ghana’s music scene after gaining nine nominations.

Despite losing the Artiste of the Year award, King Promise became the second-highest winner of the night as he won three awards: Afropop Song of the Year, Afrobeat/Afropop Artiste of the Year, and Most Popular Song of the Year.

The newest sensation, King Paluta, took home the best new artist and best hiplife song of the year while Nacee won best gospel artist and best gospel song of the year awards.

Known for his highlife and rap, the Fante singer Kofi Kinaata got mouth-agape when he beat the solid reggae and dancehall musicians to win the best reggae/dancehall song of the year with his “Efiekuma Love.”

Meanwhile, Strongman finally won Best Rap Performance after seven years of being nominated in the same category.

Black Sheriff maintained his spot as the best hiplife /hip hop artist in Ghana.

Amakye Dede was also honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his endless contributions to the growth of the industry, with Kwesi Amewuga cementing his name as the winner of the Unsung Category Award.
