FIFA RANKING: Ghana drop six places

Date:

In the latest FIFA Coca-Cola rankings, Ghana has dropped six places, now sitting at 67th globally and 14th on the continent.

This decline follows a disappointing performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana failed to win a game and was eliminated in the group stage.Cape Verde, who defeated Ghana in Group C, has moved above them in the rankings and is among the biggest movers on the continent. Angola also experienced a significant improvement, moving up nine places globally after reaching the quarterfinals at AFCON 2023, where they were eliminated by runners-up Nigeria.

Ivory Coast and Nigeria have seen an upward movement in the rankings, while Morocco and Senegal maintain their positions as the top two teams in Africa. Egypt sits fourth, just behind Nigeria, while Ivory Coast climbed to fifth following their success in the recent tournament.

Tunisia, Algeria, Mali, Cameroon, and South Africa fill the top ten places in Africa, with Burkina Faso, the DR Congo, and Cape Verde all positioned above Ghana.

At the global level, the top five teams remain Argentina, France, England, Belgium, and Brazil.
