Tracey Twum’s first-half brace ensured the Black Princesses left Dakar with an impressive 0-2 win over Senegal in the first leg of the final round FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
Former Faith Ladies’ attacker Maafia Nyame had the first sniff at goal with a free-kick in the 2nd minute, but it went wide before the ever-dependable Afi Amenyaku prevented the host from taking the lead two minutes later.
An excellent combination play saw Tracey Twum fed with a pass while in a good position, which she did not disappoint, as she slotted home the first before increasing her tally a couple of minutes later to give her side a first-half lead.
The Princesses produced more chances to score in the second half but failed, as Tottenham Women’s Persis Oteng made her long-awaited debut late on in the second half.
Ghana will welcome Senegal at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, January 21, 2024, for the second leg.
