MAX ENTERTAINMENT: Sing-a-thon: Afua almost gave up – Freeman reveals

Date:

Voice Coach and Talent Manager, Freeman Daniel Ame, has revealed that Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum almost gave up on her singing marathon after the second day of her journey.

He explained that Afua and her team lost hope when the ambitious lady lost her singing voice to the extent that her talking voice also seized.

Speaking in an interview on Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Thursday, Freeman said the setback created discomfort as many feared that Afua could no longer push through with her ambitious adventure.

He said it took professional treatment from his side and the medical team to restore Afua’s voice.

Explaining how he became Afua’s voice coach, Freeman said he was only contacted by an entertainment presenter at Joy FM, Kwame Dadzie, just two weeks before the event and did not have ample time to coach her.

“Usually, it takes three months to prepare for this. She is not a professional singer and needed massive training to adequately prepare her for such a task,” he said.

Freeman indicated that due to Afua’s situation, she had to do some voice examination to check her voice cords to know if she would be fit for the task since the voice cords were made up of muscles and cartilage.

After that medical test, he conditioned her voice to determine her singing stamina and know how far she could go with her adventure.

They then did five days of massive training, starting with her singing for one hour, then for four hours, and “when Afua went home for the weekend, she had ten hours of practice.”

The talent manager was proud that he was able to train an unprofessional singer to sing for 126 hours and saw that as a great achievement.
