In the Greater Accra Division Two promotion playoff, Still Believe FC defeated Desidero FC 2-0 to earn a historic promotion to the Division One League.
Still Believe FC only required two goals from the hot-shot Aziz Musibau to jump to the top of Ghana’s second division.
Aziz Musibau’s two goals in two minutes gave the Accra Sports Stadium a jubilant mood and guaranteed the Believers a spot in the Division One League for the upcoming season.
After having a fantastic season in both the regular league and the middle league, Still Believe FC was set to face Desidero in what was dubbed a “clash of the titans” in a historic match.
However, Aziz could always be counted on to score goals for the Green and Blacks at any point in the game.
Aziz was the pivotal player for Still Believe with 30 goals in 29 games. He demonstrated why he deserved to win player of the season with a fantastic performance that was rounded off with 2 goals in the season finale.
Despite numerous opportunities, neither team was able to score in the first half of the game.
After the break, Still Believe came out with the right mindset and enthusiasm, pressing their rivals into their own goal area.
On the 65th minute, Shaibu Abdallah was hauled down in front of the opposing goal area due to Still Believe’s relentless pressure on Desidero.
Aziz Misbau, the game’s eventual top scorer, scored the game’s first goal with a Beckham-like free kick that went straight into the goal.
In a celebratory mood, Misbau won another free kick for his team and himself, and he expertly buried it to bring the score for both his team and himself to 2-0.
Desidero awoke from the unexpected sleep that caused them to fall twice in two minutes to fight back, but despite coming near, their efforts fell short of lowering the score.
With two minutes remaining in the game, Still Believe was given two excellent opportunities to bring the score to four, but their efforts were in vain.
The Believers won the match, and they will play in Zone Three of the Division One League the following year.
