Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s comments reflect his belief that the lack of sufficient rest for his players played a significant role in their defeat against Morocco.
Playing their opening game just 48 hours before facing Morocco meant that the Black Meteors had less time to recover and recharge, leading to fatigue on the field.
He acknowledged that Morocco’s victory was well-deserved, but he also pointed out the disadvantage his team faced in terms of rest days. Tanko emphasized that the players showed signs of fatigue during the match, which likely affected their performance.
The Ghana coach also mentioned the similar situation faced by Congo, who suffered a defeat due to Guinea having an extra day of rest before their match.
Looking ahead, Tanko expressed the need for his team to bounce back and focus on their next crucial game against Guinea. In order to progress to the next stage of the Olympic qualifying tournament, the Black Meteors must secure a victory against Guinea, regardless of the challenges they have faced.
