MAX MORNING: Humans are not stress-free unless they are dead – Dr. Nortey Dua

Date:

Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Nortey Dua’s statement that “no human being is stress-free unless you are dead” highlights the universal nature of stress experienced by individuals. He explains that even babies go through stress, starting from their time in the womb where they experience various circumstances such as the availability of oxygen, food, and movement.

Dr. Dua also mentions that babies can experience stress during toilet training, as they learn how to control their bladder and bowels. He further discusses how men often hide their feelings due to the social stigma surrounding expressing emotions.

According to Dr. Dua, stressors are the factors that cause stress, while pressure and demands can amplify stress levels. Stress can manifest in different forms, including physical, emotional, and psychological aspects. How individuals respond to the demands placed on them determines how they handle stress.

Managing stress effectively is important because it can have a significant impact on the human body. When under stress, the brain releases chemicals into the bloodstream, leading to symptoms such as anxiety and increased heart rate. These physiological responses serve as signals for individuals to react in a particular way to the stressful situation.

It’s important to note that stress is a common experience for all human beings, albeit in different forms and intensities. Each individual may have their own strategies for managing and coping with stress in their lives.
