Here’s a summary of Match Day 1 of the GARFA Middle League which kicked off at the Accra Sports Stadium:
Match 1: Still Believe FC vs Danbort FC
Still Believe FC took the lead in the 32nd minute of the first half when Shaibu Abdullah scored a goal, evading his marker, Mensah, and beating the goalkeeper, Emmanuel Ashitey.
In the second half, Still Believe FC continued to dominate the game. Their captain, Aziz Masbau, extended their lead in the 64th minute with a deflected free-kick. Aziz Masbau secured his brace in the 70th minute after a nice one-two play with Salifu.
Daniel Mensah scored a consolation goal for Danbort FC in the 88th minute through a simple exchange of passes in Still Believe’s 18-yard box.
Match 2: Accra Athletic vs Auroras FC
Accra Athletic made a strong start, scoring two quick goals within the first 15 minutes of the game. David Fiti opened the scoring for Accra Athletic in the 2nd minute, followed by Mustapha Bossah doubling their lead in the 13th minute.
With just ten minutes remaining in the game, William Danquah added a third goal for Accra Athletic, taking advantage of a mistake by Auroras goalkeeper, Amamoo. Joseph Annan made a superb penalty save towards the end of the game, but Hamza Issah managed to pull one back for Hearts of Oak’s junior team.
Still Believe FC and Accra Athletic emerged victorious in their respective matches, showcasing their dominance on the field.
