Dr Nyaho Tamakloe to Samuel Boadu: Winning five trophies is nothing to Hearts of Oak

Date:

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, a board member of Hearts of Oak, responded to the team’s head coach, Samuel Boadu, saying that the club’s five championships were insignificant.

In the middle of the 2020–21 season, the 37-year-old signed a three-year contract. Last season, Samuel Boadu guided the team to its first domestic championship in 11 years.

The youthful coach led the team to the President’s Cup victory and FA Cup defense in the recently concluded 2021/22 football season.

Hearts of Oak, the defending champions of the just concluded football season, placed sixth in the league standings and trailed Asante Kotoko by 19 points.

However, Dr. Tamakloe claimed in an interview that Boadu’s amazing achievement of winning five trophies in 15 months was unnecessary for a team that had gone more than a decade without a trophy.

“If you have a team and you’re camping and boys break camp that should be a big concern that should be a big concern to a coach,” he said on an Accra-based TV station.

“People keep on saying he’s won five trophies but once you look at the future of the club, that’s my concern. Football is a very tricky game.

“Maybe we’ve been able to win five trophies by chance because the way Hearts of Oak plays its football is not the way I see it,” the former Ghana Football Association [GFA] chairman further said.

Despite winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Super Cup last season, Samuel Boadu struggled in Africa.

Hearts of Oak, however, will represent the nation at the 2022–23 CAF Confederations Cup.
