The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has disclosed that 40 missing Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers have been recovered from a warehouse in Kpone, near Tema, owned by an Indian national.
Speaking in an interview with TV3 on Wednesday, March 26, Jinapor commended national security and law enforcement agencies for their efforts in tracking down the missing containers.
“The briefing I received this morning indicates that about 40 of them have already been traced to a warehouse in Kpone. All 40 containers have been confiscated and moved to a secure location,” he stated.
The warehouse owner claims he purchased the containers last year, but authorities have launched an investigation into the ECG container scandal to determine the legitimacy of the transaction.
Jinapor also revealed that more missing containers have been identified in other locations, assuring the public that security agencies are actively working to retrieve them and prosecute those responsible.
