2024 OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS: Black Queens draw 1-1 with Avenor Stars

Date:

In a friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana’s women’s national team, the Black Queens, managed to equalize after falling behind against Avenor Stars FC. The match served as the team’s first preparatory game as they get ready to face Guinea in the 2024 Olympics qualifier.

Coach Nora Häuptle divided the squad into two sets for the game, and the first set ended in a goalless draw. However, Avenue Stars took the lead with a goal in the 60th minute. The Black Queens responded when Jaqueline Opoku scored the equalizer in the 70th minute, resulting in a draw for both teams.

The team will continue their preparations before departing from Accra to Conakry for the first leg of the qualifier against Guinea. This friendly match provided valuable playing time and an opportunity for the team to fine-tune their strategies ahead of the important upcoming Olympic qualifier.
