Senior Media Officer for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Saani Daara, has revealed the overwhelming applications for the vacant Black Stars head coach job.
Formerly the Communication Director at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) under the leadership of former president Kwesi Nyantakyi, Daara disclosed that the GFA has received over 400 applications.
The Ghana Black Stars head coach role became vacant following the mutual parting of former coach Carlos Queiroz and the GFA after a disastrous start to the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
“More than 400 coaches have applied for the Black Stars job,” he said. “Most of the coaches are looking for jobs, and most of them respect Ghana due to how we play. I can confirm that over 400 coaches have applied for the job,” he added.
For now, an interim technical team will be selected to lead the Black Stars in both home and away games against Somalia in Accra in November 2026.
