The head coach of the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, Manu Garbu, is targeting an all-out win over Togo on Wednesday to secure a spot in the semi-final of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
Nigeria must avoid defeat at all costs to qualify for the semi-finals, as they are level on points with Burkina Faso, who top Group B.
According to Garba, the Golden Eaglets are focused on beating Togo this afternoon and booking a potential date with the Black Starlets of Ghana in the semis.
“We are not here to draw matches. I am not happy that we drew our first match against Burkina Faso. We should have scored a number of goals, especially towards the end, but we cannot be crying over spilled milk,” Garba told thenff.com.
“We got the three points against the Niger Republic, and we have to keep the winning mentality. We cannot afford to gamble; a win is what we are going for. Even though they lost their first two matches, we cannot afford to underrate the Togolese. They got two goals against the Niger Republic, even though they eventually lost, so they are not a team to be taken for granted.”
