The Black Satellites of Ghana, on Wednesday, October 30, suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, who retained their WAFU Zone B Championship.
Nigeria’s U-20 men’s team successfully saw off Desmond Ofei’s Ghanaian side at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo, courtesy of Kparobo Arierhi’s superb brace.
Arierhi, who is a product of the Nigerian Federation’s initiative, ‘Beyond the Limits’ scored his country’s first goal after finishing off a swift-flowing play in the 35th minute.
The teenager doubled his and Nigeria’s tally just before the end of the first-half before Ghana fought to pull one back in the second-half through the Player of the Tournament, Jerry Afriyie, who also won the Goal King award.
Ghana, despite the disappointing loss, still has a chance of making it to the FIFA U-20 World Cup after already booking their place at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
