Two years after winning promotion to their Ghana Premier League, FC Samartex did the unimaginable as they ursurped then champions Medeama SC to win the league, thereby qualifying for the preliminary stages of the 2024-25 CAF Champions League.
What is more amazing about this achievement is that the current coach of the side, Yussif Nurudeen, only took charge of the team just before the start of the 2023-24 season.
Now the Sameraboi-based club has the ounous task of facing some of the biggest clubs in Africa, such as Al Ahly, Young Africains, and others, should they overcome their opponents in the two preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League.
However, they must overcome their FC Victoria first before taking on the winner of the game between ASGNN and Raja Casablanca to reach the money zone of the competition.
Ahead of the game in Cameroon, on Sunday, August 18, at 2 p.m., Max Sports engaged the Public Relations Officer of the Ghanaian champions, Kofi Abronoma on Tuesday, August 13, where assured the team is ready to face the champions of Cameroon.
“Our journalists friends in Cameroon have provided us with videos of FC Victoria. We have monitored how they play their home and away matches… We know how they play when they score first or concede. We know how they make substitutions when they are either winning or losing. We have submitted all these details to the technical team.”
The team is set to depart Accra on Wednesday for Cameroon to prepare before hand, hoping for a favourable result at the Japoma Stadium on Sunday.
