Renowned musician and songwriter, William Kojo Johnson, known in the industry as Stay Jay, has expressed concern about the current music composition in the country.
According to him, the composition of many current songs did not meet a good writing standard.
Stay Jay expressed his concern during a media interview where he argued that songwriting was a “call” just like a pastoral work.
“Songwriting is not easy… I don’t think a lot of people are writers. They just get the vibe and just do whatever they do, but if you want to be a writer, it’s a calling; you have to get the gift from God,” he said.
On his part, Stay Jay said songwriting comes easily since it was God’s given talent to him.
“Whenever I am in the studios, I pray before I do a song, and I don’t write a song. It just comes to my head with the beat and everything, and I just tell the engineer, and we are good to go,” he added.
