Show clemency to closed-down radio stations — Mahama asks NCA

Date:

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has called on the National Communications Authority (NCA) to show clemency to closed-down radio stations.

Radio stations including Wontumi FM, Asaase Radio, and nearly 60 others were ordered to cease operations by the NCA due to regulatory breaches.

Hon. Sam Narteh George, the minister for communications and digital innovations, stated that the action by the NCA was in accordance with the law and not arbitrary.

Hours after the NCA’s directives, the first gentleman of the land, President John Mahama, stepped in to ask for clemency, which a 30-day grace period would be given to the affected radio stations to get their affairs in order.
