Founder of Asaase Radio, Gabriel Otchere Darko, has confirmed reports of the being shut down by the National Communication Authority (NCA) on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
According to Mr Darko, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party and confidante of former President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his radio station failed to renew its licence on time.
Asaase Radio is among 60 other radio stations, including Wontumi FM and Happy FM, to have been closed down for regulatory breaches.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko explained on ‘X’ that the station delayed in renewing its licence last year.
“It was to be renewed by October but only done in December 2024,” he posted.
