The senior communications manager of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Sheikh Tophic Sienu, has disclosed the reason for the departure of Black Queens coach Nora Hauptle.
News of Hauptle accepting to be the next head coach for the Copper Queens of Zambia months leading to the end of 2024 was eventually confirmed by the country’s football federation.
The Ghana Football Association, through Sheikh Tophic in an interview on the Sports Pack show on Max FM, revealed the Swiss gaffer turned down all their contract offers for the best of her interest.
“We knew her contract was expiring, so we began negotiations with her in June 2024 but we couldn’t reach an agreement.
It’s about interest and conditions. We offered improved conditions, but she preferred a different option,” he said to Nana Darkwa Gyasi on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Despite reports of Hauptle having been frustrated by the release of funds to aid her team in preparing for the upcoming WAFCON, she will now have at her disposal some of the world’s best female footballers to challenge for the WAFCON trophy.
