Copyright Advocate, Benjamin Oduro Ahin known in the creative industry as Bnoskka, has called on dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, to rebrand to highlife music.
That, he said ,will help Ghana’s original music genre gain ground on the international front.
Speaking in an interview with the media, Bnoskka, who is also a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, said Shatta Wale’s unique sound, which blended elements of dancehall, reggae, and traditional Ghanaian highlife, was a perfect representation of the genre.
“It’s time for Shatta Wale to take ownership of his highlife sound and use his platform to promote Ghanaian music globally,” he said.
Bnoskka stated that the self-acclaimed dancehall king had the “talent, the charisma, and the fan base to make it happen.”
By doing so, he indicated that Shatta Wale would not only cement his legacy as a music icon but “also pave the way for future generations of Ghanaian artists.”
Bnoskka’s words followed Shatta Wale’s performance at the Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street Concert.
His comments have sparked a renewed appreciation for Ghana’s rich musical heritage and the incredible talent of its artists, emphasizing the need to embrace and promote the highlife music genre.
