The Pride of the North, Real Tamale United, maintained their dominance over Hearts of Oak after delivering a 2023-24 Ghana Premier League opening fixture victory for their enthused home fans inside the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Friday night.

The WeyUna boys have gone unbeaten against the Rainbow club of in their last five league matches.

RTU head coach, Abdul Mumin Abdulai, fielded an unfamiliar new look-side with the likes of Mohammed Hardi, Baba Kushibo, Hafiz Adams, Iddrisu Gadafi and Mohammed Alhassan Manykuyeli being the regulars from the previous season.

Hearts of Oak also debuted new boys, Michael Ampadu, Kelvin Osei-Asibey, Liventius Attur, Martin Karikari, Evans Adomako, Kofi Agbesimah, and Congolese striker Wanet Kashala Ramos.

RTU squandered two massive chances in the space of two minutes, to take the lead, with a display of dominance over the Phobians, as Richard Attach had to make crucial saves to keep the hosts at bay.

However, the tamale-based club managed to breach the barricades of Hearts’ defense through striker, Owusu Afriyie, for the winner in stoppage time.

Dutchman, Martin Koopman, will be absolutely gutted his tenure as the coach for Hearts of Oak, kicked-off with a loss.
