South Africa’s goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has reacted after the 0-2 defeat to Mexico in the World Cup opener.
The Bafana Bafana captain lamented the absence of support from African fans.
In his statement, the Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper called for African unity and solidarity.
“Africans have always supported their fellow national teams at every World Cup, but I don’t understand why it was different for us.
Many Africans cheered for Mexico, not us, South Africa. We were on the verge of tears—it’s truly heartbreaking. As Africans, let’s unite, let’s stand together as one.”
