#PremierLeague: John Obi Mikel admits he could’ve had more titles at Manchester United

Date:

Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has opined that he could have won more titles if he had decided to join Manchester United.

The former Chelsea midfielder came close to becoming the first Nigerian to play for the Red Devils, but opted to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea in 2006.

While reflecting on what could’ve been, Mikel said: “I should have won more Premier League titles (if I moved to Manchester United), but I have four FA Cup titles.

I’d have been the first Nigerian player to play for United, but I had an amazing 11 years at Chelsea. Fantastic time. It became my home.

The players, the friends, the people at the club—they all became family. We won a lot, and we had an amazing time. More highs than lows. A brilliant time that I will never ever forget.”

Even after his meeting with the legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, he ended up getting wooed by the charm of Chelsea and Jose Mourinho.
