Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the speaker of parliament, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, launched the second edition of the Democracy Cup.
The first edition of the initiative, designed to promote the country’s democratic values and national unity, drew large crowds.
Hon. Bagbin commended stakeholders during the launch at the DF Annan Auditorium in Parliament for the initiative, assuring them it has come to stay.
“I want to affirm this laudable initiative and assure you that it is here to stay. It is here to make a lasting impact on our democracy,” he said.
He added, “The launch of this second edition is a powerful testament to what we can achieve as a nation.”
The Democracy Cup will come off on August 29, live on Max TV.
