Manchester City is prepared to back out of a contract with Wolves to get Matheus Nunes.
Nunes has been refusing to work out and was thus pulled out of the team to play Blackpool last night, but Wolves are demanding over £60 million, and it is believed that City will not pay more than £55 million.
Having long admired Nunes, Pep Guardiola started making plans to replace Kevin De Bruyne with him when the Belgian star got injured earlier this month.
City withdrew their interest in Laucas Paqueta after learning the West Ham star was the focus of an FA investigation into possible betting violations.
Nunes joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon just one year ago for a then-club-record £42 million, and he would later play 35 times in the Premier League for the team.
