#MAXAFCON2023 UPDATES: Ndidi out for Nigeria, Algeria yet to replace Gouiri

Date:

An injury has prevented Wilfred Ndidi from competing for Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 27-year-old midfielder for Leicester City was not there for his team’s Monday victory over Huddersfield Town despite being included in the Super Eagles’ 25-man squad on December 29.

Alhassan Yusuf, a midfielder for Royal Antwerp, has been called up to take Ndidi’s spot.

Amine Gouiri, a striker for Rennes, has withdrew from Algeria’s team due to a knee injury.

The 23-year-old, who made his Fennecs debut in October after abandoning his French national team, has not yet been replaced by a North African team.
