The coach of the Pharoahs of Egypt, Rui Vitoria, has called up Al Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
The Portuguese gaffer announced his 27-man squad for the forthcoming AFCON last Saturday. There were a few shocks in the lineup, chief among them being the absence of Yasser Ibrahim.
Fans and commentators were divided over Ibrahim’s choice to be left off the field, and Egypt great Ahmed Hossam Mido called it a “football crime.”
But now that Yasser Ibrahim has been called up to the national team camp to replace Osama Galal of Pyramids FC, who sustained a knee injury, as they gear up for Africa’s biggest football competition in Ivory Coast.
