The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will present the much-anticipated 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament today. This marks the first major economic blueprint of the Mahama administration, setting the stage for Ghana’s economic recovery and growth.
The budget is expected to introduce significant tax relief measures, including the removal of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), COVID-19 Health Levy, and Betting Tax. These taxes, introduced by the previous administration, faced widespread criticism for placing additional financial burdens on Ghanaians. Their removal is expected to ease the strain on mobile money users, businesses, and individuals engaged in online betting.
Beyond tax cuts, the budget will focus on economic growth and development, with a strong emphasis on job creation, infrastructure expansion, and social interventions aimed at improving the livelihoods of citizens. Policies to drive employment, enhance public services, and boost the private sector are expected to take center stage.
