Hansi Flick, a former manager of Bayern Munich, has been named manager of Barcelona for a two-year period.
Flick replaces Xavi, who was fired by Germany last week. Flick was fired in September of 2023.
Flick won the Bundesliga, German Cup, and Champions League in 2020 while leading Bayern Munich to a treble. This was the start of his time with Germany.
After leading the team to La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup triumph in his first full season in command, departing Barcelona manager Xavi, who was fired a month after the club announced he would stay, claimed his successor will “suffer” in the position.
The Catalan giants, however, did not have a fortunate 2023–24 season as they finished 10 points behind La Liga champion Real Madrid.
