Famed journalist and football writer, Jerome Otchere, has waded in the current struggles of Asante Kotoko, blaming its lack of proper organization.
Asante Kotoko, under a directive by its patron, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, relieved Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum as a member of its Interim Management Committee on Monday, November 25, 2024, through an official communiqué.
The Interim Management Committee was instituted by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, consisting of Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awura (Kontomponiaferehene), James Kwesi Appiah, Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, and Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, in July 2023, ahead of the start of the 2023-24 football season.
This move by the Porcupine Warriors is to enable Dr Ogum to fully focus on the technical aspect of the club and lead it out of their rut despite recording a victory in the last matchday against Aduana FC after a four-game losing streak.
“There must be clear separation of powers: managerial roles, administrative roles, and technical roles. Unfortunately, when it comes to the structures and management roles at Kotoko, It is not clearly defined. It is not well organized. In fact, that is the reason why the team is underperforming,” Jerome Otchere said in an interview with Josiah Okoe Quaye on Max FM.
Jerome Otchere shares a mutual view of the club’s decision to let Dr Ogum, focusing fully on the technical issues of the team as they prepare to face bitter rivals Hearts of Oak in their next league match.
The club’s Interim Management Committee is now left with just two members: Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awura and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi.
