A fatal road accident in the early hours of Monday has claimed three lives and left two others injured at Akyem Asafo, along the Kumasi–Accra highway.
Eyewitnesses report that the crash involved three heavy-duty trucks. A DAF trailer carrying cocoa, with registration number 6294-11, had broken down and was left stationary in the middle of the road.
Two other trucks—a Scania (GS 6429-11) and an unregistered Howo tipper truck—collided with the immobilized trailer while traveling toward Accra.
The crash killed the Scania driver and two female passengers, believed to be market traders, on the spot.
Emergency services, including the Ghana National Fire Service (Bunso Command), Suhum Police MTTD, and the National Ambulance Service, responded swiftly. The deceased were taken to the Suhum Government Hospital morgue, while the injured are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
