After fourteen surgeries, 23-year-old Martha Karikari Asiamah, for the past four years, has lived unrecognizable courtesy of an over-controlling and “obsessive” ex-boyfriend named Prince Amankwah in collaboration with a man named ‘Bobo’.
Martha, while at Kumasi Secondary Technical School, had the ill-luck of meeting and dating Prince, a Kumasi High School graduate, who, out of jealousy, changed the life of one of the most beautiful young ladies you would ever see in your life.
“I was 17 years old, and in my second year at KSTS, I dated Prince. He was a friend in my neighborhood who had just completed Kumasi High School. Our relationship only lasted a year because he was very controlling and obsessive,” she said.
What an unfortunate period she endured while with him, as he stalked and threatened her friends, especially male friends close to her.
The moment that changed her life came when she had gone out of her grandmother’s room to check on the TV antenna when, all of a sudden, she felt her body literally melting away as she screamed in excruciating pain on the night of January 27, 2020.
“My body started melting, and I screamed as the attacker fled. Sadly, my grandmother, who rushed out to help, slipped in the acid, burning part of her body as well”, she said to the ‘Mirror’ newspaper’s reporter.
“In my opinion, the police seem uninterested. Maybe because I am a nobody. The case is being handled by the Kumasi Central Police Station,” Martha added.
Martha, who has been able to raise some funds, intends to have a “somewhat normal life,” as she aims for reconstructive surgery in either Turkey, the United Kingdom, or the United States of America.
